Single acting cylinder - Bicelli Hydraulics
A short glossary on technology in hydraulic cylinders
Single acting hydraulic cylinder
Single acting hydraulic cylinders
are those in which the movement is operated in just one axial direction.
The oil thus goes into the cylinder only from one port and, pushing the piston, moves the rod: the single acting cylinder goes back to the initial position because of gravity
or, alternatively, of an integrated spring system.
The single acting cylinder
can be pushing or pulling
if the oil pushes the rod respectively towards one end (out) or the other (in).
