Oil hydraulic cylinder - Bicelli Hydraulics
A short glossary on technology in hydraulic cylinders
The hydraulic cylinder or linear hydraulic actuator
is an oil operated device which produces movement thanks to a liquid. In particular it is a mechanical system used to apply a force along the direction of its extension.
A hydraulic cylinder
is made of several different mechanical parts:
- the cylinder itself (or tube or barrel), which is the cylinder body, empty;
- the rod, which consists of a bar;
- the head bush (or guide), the piston and the seals.
The hydraulic cylinder
works basically because the rod goes through the tube thanks to the liquid contained in it. This creates the pressure needed to move the piston through the barrel.
