Double acting hydraulic piston cylinder - Bicelli Hydraulics
A short glossary on technology in hydraulic cylinders
Double acting hydraulic piston cylinder
The term hydraulic piston cylinder
means hydraulic cylinder
: the piston is just a component of the complete cylinder.
The double acting hydraulic cylinder
, also improperly referred to as double acting hydraulic piston cylinder, differs from the single acting one because it can push the rod in the two axial directions
allowing the piston to move both ways. Due to the pressure, the oil is pushed in both chambers (pulling and pushing) thus generating the controlled motion of the whole system.
This cylinder is used where the piston return is not allowed by the gravity force, for example because it works in an oblique or inverted position.
